About Me

Marionna Davis

As one of many in her family, Marionna Davis is an undergrad Fine Arts student specializing in New Media, and she is studying at the University Of Texas at San Antonio. She was born and raised in North Carolina and lived there for fifteen years before moving to Texas.

After getting her diploma at Canutillo High School in El Paso, Texas, she started college at New Mexico State University for a year before moving to San Antonio. She was nominated in 2019 for Best Graphic Design Student and graduated with a Pell Grant Scholarship in 2021.

Her work displays a passion for pushing through traditional art forms and exploring innovative ways to engage through new media. She loves showing off her concepts through self-portraits and mixed colors. Her skills in using digital oil brushes and blending colors allow her to craft visually stunning graphics and illustrations.

Her main practice takes place on a digital canvas and is sometimes animated. They are usually printed out to a larger scale and are shown like a regular painting. Her concepts are involved with various themes of expressionism with topics of religion, self-acceptance, and evolution.

Her future project for her Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree will discuss the topics of body dysmorphia and the relationship between how people think or feel during those periods. This project will relate with the artist herself through self-portraits and layers of different tones. This project will show her growth as an individual within her four years at UTSA and encourage others to try to challenge themselves with their talents.
